ITINERARY
We set off from Szentbékkálla at 8 a.m. We have our first stop at the so-called Kőtenger that was formed 9 million years ago, where we can see the emblematic rock of the Káli Basin, that is, the Ingókő. From here we go through Mindszentkálla and walk up to the Kopasz Mountain from where there is an amazing view over the Káli Basin.
From the Kopasz Mountain we head for the Köves Mountain that we can reach in about an hour. Climbing up the crushed basalt is a bit risky but the view from the peak of the mountain is marvellous. From here we descend to the Bács Valley and during this time we enjoy the scenery dominated by the Csobánc and Tóti Mountains. On the other side of the valley we start to climb the Csobánc Mountain the top of which can be reached in 40 minutes. From the peak of the mountain we can take pleasure in a view that is even more beautiful than the previous ones.
After a short break we descend back to the Bács Valley from where we turn into the direction of Káptalantóti. In the village we have some time to have lunch then we turn to the direction of the church ruin of Sabar Mountain. From here we take a forest path and we arrive in Salföld, the most beautiful village of the Káli Basin. Charming old cottages line the streets and a lot of them are historical buildings. We walk about half an hour before we reach the ruins of the Pálos (Pauline) monastery that is the most amazing monument belonging to the Pauline order of the Balaton Uplands. On the way back we go through Badacsonyörs and then climb up to the Tóti Mountain from where there is a view over the Káli and the Tapolcai Basins, which is even more beautiful than all the previous ones. We take the bus from Káptalantóti to Szentbékkálla.
