About us
After nearly 20 years of backpacking around the world it was high time to show my homeland to those interested. I have seen a lot of things in the world and I know that Hungary is not a worse place than Guatemala, Bolivia or the Philippines. We also have sights and attractions that people cannot see anywhere else – still, we do not show them to foreigners.
If the Cocora Valley in Colombia can host a hundred foreign tourists a day, then why can the Káli Basin not do the same? If the national parks of Costa Rica attract wildlife photographers, then why does the Small Balaton or the so-called Berek (‘wetland’) not do the same? If everybody recognises the stones of Stonehenge from postcards, then why do they not recognise the church of Velemér? Why?
The fault stems from our way of thinking. We, Hungarian people consider those destinations interesting from tourism’s point of view that are interesting for us, the Hungarian. Maybe some church or castle ruins located at every corner are boring for us but they may prove to be exciting for an Indian, Brazilian or Australian tourist. Indeed! We have not been able to utilise the real natural and cultural treasures of Hungary up to now. We have established Hunventure in order to make it possible for the tourists arriving in our homeland to see something of our marvellous country and not to end up visiting the ruin pubs of Budapest only.
