ITINERARY
We set off at 8 a. m. from Vászoly. After a 20-minute walk in the forest we get to a nicely cultivated vineyard from where there is a superb view over the Pécsely Basin. After a 30-minute walk you get to the village the basin was named after from where we head for the medieval Zádor castle. After we walk around the ruins, we go hiking on the edge of the Derék Mountain and the view over the Pécsely Basin will be marvellous throughout this hike.
From here we take a longer walk, which lasts for about an hour, to Mencshely. For some time we walk in a forest then along arable land. The Halom Mountain is located near Mencshely on the educational trail of which we can get acquainted with the buttes and their formation.
We descend into the village of Dörgicse through vineyards. In the village there are beautiful old cottages and two splendid ruined churches. It is worth entering the Levendárium and try the syrups made from local ingredients. In the afternoon we return to Vászoly and on the way back we visit the church ruins of Kisdörgicse. We get back to Vászoly at around 5 p. m.
